Who else would build the CruzTone but a steel-player/furniture-maker/techie/retro-artisan/beatnik-billy?
Having dissected scores of household appliances as a kid, he served in the Navy as an aircraft electronics technician. A life-long musician, Colin has been studying guitar and amp tone for decades.

As a maker of fine furniture and lighting, he helped create the Santa Cruz Art Center Co-op Gallery. His deco-work often combined metal elements with fine hardwoods. You can see where this is heading…

A resident of Santa Cruz, California, Colin eventually met renowned guitar builder Rick Turner. This just happened to be around the time that Colin was becoming obsessed about building the world’s best steel guitar. Go figure.
